How to install Pidgin from "Source"


Intro

Pidgin is one of the chat programs available that lets you chat on several network all at once. For example, if you wanna chat with a friend but he or she is using another chat program, like the Google Talk, MSN or Yahoo. So, one of the solution is to use Pidgin to chat with them.



Pidgin could run on Linux, UNIX dan Windows. As for Mac OS, you could use "Adium"

How to install Pigdin into Linux

Download Pidgin

Launch the terminal/Console

Type the following commands

$tar xvf pidgin-X.X.X.tar.bz2
$cd pidgin-X.X.X
$sudo apt-get install intltool
$./configure --disable-screensaver --disable-startup-notification --disable-gtkspell --disable-gstreamer --disable-vv --disable-meanwhile--disable-avahi --disable-meanwhile --disable-avahi --disable-dbus --disable-perl --disable-tcl                                                      
$sudo make
$sudo make install
$sudo ldconfig
Done!!!
